Investing in Italy | Challenges and Opportunities, organised by Aperio Intelligence in collabortion with the Italian Chamber of Commerce UK. It was an honour for Simon Elvidge, board member at EOS IM, to be speaking on this topic with such an esteemed panel from SDA Bocconi, Italgas, Guardia di Finanza, the Italian Ministry of Labour & Social Policies, the law firms AMTF and Greenwoods GRM LLP, and La Verità LVP. He was pleased to provide EOS IM’s insights from a business perspective and provided the prevalent views we see from an international investors. The panel focussed on the current investment environment in Italy (the EU’s third largest economy), highlighting how opportunities for investors can be captured and how potential risks can be mitigated. The discussion focussed on ensuring you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the local market, practices and structures. Also, it was agreed by the Panellists that it is importance of having a knowledgeable professional partner with appropriate experience. This included local investment management (feet on the ground), reputational due diligence and legal advice. Following on from this theme, Colonel Emilio Fiora highlighted the benefits of talking to the local governmental agencies to understand the standing of potential partners and investment targets. It was agreed that both the corporate sector and clean energy (solar / wind) provide superb opportunities, due to the structure of the market.
