AIMA and Allen & Overy | Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR)
AIMA’s SMCR Guide – Launch: Simon Elvidge Board Director at EOS IM, was invited by AIMA, to speak at the industry launch of their Guide with David Blunt from the FCA, Allen & Overy and Coremont. The SMCR rules go live in Dec 2019. Simon represented EOS IM. AIMA’s SMCR Guide is supports alternative investment firms in their implementation of the new rules. It provides a clear and practical roadmap of the key requirements FCA’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime. Adam Jacobs-Dean chaired this successful event. SMCR starts with culture, ethics and principles. It is focussed on strengthening market integrity through requirements designed to ensure individual accountability, responsibilities, conduct and competence. The fund managers, broking & other sectors, have the advantage of being able to utilise the experience gained from the banks when implementing their projects. As David said at the Event, always keep the objective of SMCR and the resulting outcomes clearly in focus. Simon is strongly of the view that when building a firm’s SMCR framework it has to be practical, effective and holistic, thus avoiding siloed and theoretical approaches which do not deliver the desired results.
